Fencing is an individual sport. Doing well or not depends on the fencer - what does the fencer know and how does he or she feel. Fencers learn self reliance, the value of working toward a goal, and the joy of individual success when it all comes together.
Our experience has been that those students who have the work habits to do well in fencing also do well academically.
Local fencers have done well at universities in the UC System including Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, San Diego, as well as various Ivy League schools including Brown, Columbia, Penn, and other private schools such as Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Marquette, and Temple.
CALL IF YOU NEED A DIFFERENT TIME WE WILL TRY TO SCHEDULE SOMETHING CONVENIENT
Monday through Thursday 6:30 - 8:00 or Saturday 11:00 A.M.
The cost for the four class introductory course is $110.00. The fencer should wear sports shoes and athletic wear such as sweats or other gym clothes.
Fencing is appropriate for kids of all ages. However, very young children may have difficulty. Give us a call and we can help you decide if your child is ready.
There are numerous tournaments throughout the year locally as well as the Bay Area and nationally. It is not necessary for your child to compete but that option is available. If your fencer has an interest in competition discuss it with a coach.
